HOF Memory Walkers Make a Difference!

	Wow, the House of Friends Memory Walk 2006 team was out in full force on Saturday, September 30th! Thirty-three walkers arose early and broke a sweat walking 3 miles through downtown Austin to support the Alzheimer’s Assoc. annual fundraiser to support programs and research for Alzheimer’s and related diseases. Our walking team represented 66 donors who contributed $1965.00! This is fantastic!!! Our largest fundraisers were Jim and Vee Schlosser! We also recognize fundraisers Brandy Shinski, Kim Natwig, Shirley Leydecker, Herby Beard, and Rhonda Allen. Not letting a gathering go by without food and fellowship, our group had a great time eating breakfast at Hoover’s Cooking on Manor Road after the Walk. Yum, yum—migas and gingerbread pancakes were a few of the delicious menu items!

Yes, the House of Friends participation in the annual Alzheimer’s Memory Walk ‘05 not only brought in $685 in donations ($135 over our goal) - but our team of 25 won a trophy for the largest individual team! We were awarded a three foot high gold and purple trophy with a purple gym shoe on top! It was a wonderful surprise to all.

After the 3 mile walk, we enjoyed breakfast together at Katz’s Deli. We even got a thank you for all we did from Mr. Katz himself! It was a memorable day.

My heartfelt thanks go to all of you that donated and participated in the Memory Walk. I could not have done it all without you. You are very special, and I know that the millions of those who are affected with this horrible disease appreciate your time and efforts.

I hope to have all of you back, and many more, participate next year. Thanks once again to all!
